[Pat Conroy ] I rate Pat Conroy as one of the greatest modern day writers of my time. I have read the prince of tides more than half a dozen times and no book I have ever read had touched me as this one has. every year I go on holiday to the coast and my book comes with me - it is the family joke that when I die I have to take the Prince of Tides with me in my coffin - I paid my son R50 to read it when he was 18 and got him started on a life long love of books - and I finally persuaded my niece to read it last year - suprisingly enough she also raved about it. But till the day I die, the prince of tides is the book that is closest to my heart -thanks Pat COnroy for a book that will live in my soul forever

[Macy Gray ] in 1997 - living in the coastal range of unincorporated western sonoma county (no cali)- with limited net access and radio - macy was unknown to me. a friend from Denver sent me a cassette with her first release. I was impressed w her immediately. (that u2 won the grammy over her that year (or was it '96 0r '98?) was appalling!
in 2005 Macy appeared in Santa Rosa at the Luther Burbank Center for the performing arts. I purchased 4 seats for 3 people - hoping the blue haired ladies would not try and enforce their 'NO DANCING' policy. well, they COULDN'T! Macy said, 'they told me that ya'll here in SR would be a calm, sedate crowd -- but ya'll rock... and everyone even knows all the lyrics to my songs... let's get down...!
I will pop all 4 of her cd's into a magazine and blast it! living in the country has great advantades sometimes.
everyone who has come to visit me since '97 has heard Macy and become a fan.
Macy is the bomb ya'll. she rocks. she's sexy, beautiful, talented and unique. love you Macy baby!!

[Morcheeba ] Returning for their seventh album, multi-instrumentalists Paul and Ross Godfrey reunite with vocalist Skye Edwards for the first time since 2002. 'Blood Like Lemonade' is the album Morcheeba havebeen searching for all these years, one which takes the essence of earlier classics like 'Who Can You Trust?' and the half-million selling 'Big Calm', and transports it to exotic new places. At its heart are the band's trademark oozing downtempo trip hop grooves, embellished with intriguing, idiosyncratic flourishes like the African thumb-piano of 'Even Though', the sitar drone and blues harmonica of 'Mandala', and the freak-folk guitar jangle of 'I Am The Spring', and topped off with Skye's intimately soulful vocals. It is also at once their most introspective album, with songs that illuminate the band's personal situation, and their most outwardlooking, as Paul Godfrey's lyrics pursue characters into uncharted territories - the avenging vampire of 'Blood Like Lemonade', the abandoned astronaut of 'Even Though', the homicidal dinnerparty host of 'Recipe For Disaster', and the Viking explorers of 'Beat Of The Drum'. More details to follow...

[Pat Conroy ] I love Pat Conroy. How does he know so much about human nature? I am half way through "South of Broad", and I have never read anything as well written as this, and I have read everything. I have, of course, read everything of Mr. Conroy's. Bravo, to you Mr. Conroy, I was satisfied with "Beach Music" as the best I've read, but am blown away with this. I met you a few years ago at a bookstore in Asheville, NC and hope to see you here again. All the best and thank you.

[Pat Conroy ] I rarely write to an author, but was so blown away by the incredibly beautiful, poignant, memorable and overwhelming book--"South of Broad". I hope this message gets to Mr. Conroy, just to say, "thank you" for a awesome and magical book. Jeanne Buckworth

[Pat Conroy ] I am tracing my geneology & think I may be related to Pat Conroy. My maternal grandmother's maiden name is Wingo, which is the uncommon surname he used for the family name in Prince of Tides (I know his books are somewhat autobiographical). My American ancestors originated in the Carolinas (Ulster Irish) pre-Revolutionary War-originally Scottish. Would like to communicate with Mr. Conroy further (by email?) about this.

[Phil Collins ] I always enjoyed Phil Collins' music, whether solo or with Geneses. I think his management/record Co. should re-release "Land of confusion". It was a great hit then, and I think it would be an even bigger "smash" today, considering how screwed up the world is. People could really relate to it in a BIG BIG WAY. That's all.

[Rod Stewart ] I am after some help. In 2008 I was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and currently confined to a wheelchair and losing the use of my arms. It's not sympathy I am looking for but how can I get disabled seats to a rod Stewart's concerts. We live in Guernsey Channel Islands and have never been to a concert and Sara love's Rod. I am getting worse and have about 2 years and while I can still move a little and talk as a real final treat I would like to surprise her with one of his concert's but the ticket site don't appear to show the disabled seating. Please can you help as it would be a happy memory for Sara?
Thanks
Colin

[Pat Conroy ] Having just finished the first and only book I have read written by P. Conroy, I had to respond and I don't ordinarily, unless I am moved to the core of my be ing. I, too, am a southerner, born in 1945 as well. I grew up on a little farm outside Chattanooga, Tennessee.
South of Broad literally took my breath away. Conroy has an amazing mastery of language. S of B made me laugh, made me cry, made me angry; every emotion one CAN feel. Having lost our own son 10 years ago (natural causes), I found "Toad's" relationship with his and Steven's mother intriguing. After losing our son, I became obsessed with the well-being of his only sister. It is so interesting how trauma and crisis affects people so differently. I now hate to start a new book knowing after reading South of Broad, I will be disappointed. Congratulations, Mr. Conroy, you have taken me places I've never been, never WANTED to go, but certainly enjoyed the journey!

[Pat Conroy ] metaphors and similies used to describe the low contry of s.c. are unparreleled in writing about the south the first person i ever heard speak out against the evils of racism and in 1967 was dangerous he also helped me develop a great little 20 foot set shot!
steve sanders (59)03.09.2009 18:54
[Pat Conroy ] pat was my jv basketball coach and english lit teacher at beaufort h.s. we share so many commonalities sometimes ithink hes writing about mewould like to contact him someway
Bettye Emerso 03.09.2009 04:30
[Pat Conroy ] Bought SOUTH OF BROAD today and am captivated, BUT WHO EDITED THIS WORK?
p. 3 "...he would take my brother, Steve, and I out to
..."
Should be "...he would take my brother, Steve, and ME out to..."
p. 35: "Nor the coach's son, who you're going to meet this afternoon."
Should be: "Nor the coach's son, WHOM you're going to meet this afternoon."
And I'm just getting into the book!
